A small, yet significant flaw: that implies that everyone who would participate in politics if they had a chance is a mindless idiot. However, that means that _especially_ the people who participate anyway (i. e., presidents, ministers etc.) are mindless idiots and that, therefore, "mob rule" would actually decrease the level of mindless idiocy in politics, assuming that somebody else in the population is brighter. Why? Where is that written? Quote:
What god and what word(s) would that be? Where's the proof that Jefferson didn't just invent those words (which, btw, he forgot to include in the declaration of independence)?

Proof? Quote:
The UN Security Council was not created just for fun, you know? Maybe you don't care what others do, but others do care. Quote:
Show the world convincing proof that whoever is your current enemy deserves it. Trust may be a wonderful thing, but there's nothing better than certainty when one has to decide whether to go to war. Quote:
Uh, yeah ... too many bodies to drag - maybe if I get rendy's car ... Quote:
Hard to say about WW1, but if you had refrained from doing anything in WW2, first a lot of people would have been gassed by the Nazis here in Europe, Asia and Africa and then they would come over the ocean and do the same at your place. (It's all nice talking about a militia, but I seriously doubt that a farmer with a shotgun can hold up a tank or a bomber.) Alternatively, maybe the USSR would have won and we all would live in peace, prosperity and liberty, with the bonus of a society that is actually interested in more than money and power. Quote:
What Europe wants seems not to count much in your government's decisions, therefore it is irrelevant. Quote:
Good question. Here's another question: what happened to the "innocent until proven guilty" principle? Do you make an exception from it only when you kill or for other things too? Quote:
Lack of evidence and contrary evidence are different things. Quote:
Yeah, a lot of people around the globe feel like that. Of course if your brother goes to war and kills two dozen people, you will remember to think about how much they have meant for their wives, their parents, brothers and sisters, their children, their friends; what they might have done for their country and the entire world if they hadn't been killed with the famous surgical precision. Quote:
Hiroshima and Nagasaki. (You should be able to work out yourself what I mean here.) |

Hmmm... not bad.. I was afraid any political thread might suddenly turn into an unintentional troll, but, for the most part, it's been passionate but not abusive.
Rycamor: Sorry, I'll get a more complete response up in a while (not enough time to think it through and chew on everything you posted this very minute). However, I would like to just clarify that: 1. I think Iraq is run by a homicidal maniac that needs taken down, but the responsibility should lie equally on a lot of shoulders, not unfairly balanced on ours, especially since 1) we are NOT within shooting range and 2) he can't win a brute force war with us even if he starts it (it's the mutual annihalation thing from the Cold War, except he'd be annihalated, we'd be injured). 2. I think it's very likely that Al Qaeda is to blame, BUT, since the big boys in Washington won't prove it, how do we know for sure? Yes, they're rotten punks that need taken out anyway, so no tears shed there by me, but what if they didn't do it and the real perps got away in the meantime? Maybe Washington just picked a scapegoat and let the real baddies escape because they didn't know who did it? Then we'd have gotten one group of baddies, but let another get away. What good is that? As for the UN... well... they can continue sipping their tea and wringing their pretty little hands.. they're the wishiest, washiest bunch of them all. Frankly, I couldn't care less about those losers and what they think.. There was a political cartoon a while ago that depicted the UN as a bunch of Whigs. They were bent out of shape because Bush wanted them to do something about Iraq but all they knew how to do was *tsk* and wag their fingers.. I think that's a pretty accurate depiction. BTW.. I don't want to give the impression I outright HATE the place or I think it's a really bad place to live, I just see some things that need to be whipped into shape and I'm concerned that the U.S. is starting to push itself off a very steep cliff ![]() Last edited by Ctb : October 18th, 2002 at 03:14 PM. |

Lol, the UN, wow, the big bad security council that makes the world a better place to live, funny..... That is intresting tho that you brought up political cartoons. Have any of you guys ever read the Herblock Cartoons (Herbert Block). The Washington Post outsourced the printing of his cartoons to us before he passed away. We printed the cartoon and mailed it out to 70+ countries every tuesday and thursday. If you can find an on-line archive of his cartoons, you will be extremely ammused........ |

I am referring to Yahweh. The God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And His son, Yahshua the Christ. There are quite a few refferances to Yah in The Declaration of Independence.

Are you meaning literal or implied? There is one reference to God in the first paragraph and that is it. What Declaration of Independence are you reading from? Here is a link just in case you need one... http://memory.loc.gov/const/declar.html |
