I get so many of those anymore I don't even read them - Ones from Nigeria with a similar offer, millions of dollars in govt grants, mortgages for my house, free membership to Anna's house of please and pain.......

Whoah, the Nigerians have relocated!
Apparently these scams work very well and people make ALOT of money from them. Joe what you should do is give them a phone number to call, like a pay phone or something, that way they waste long distance money. I always ask them for their bank account numbers.

And I thought I was special. I thought they trusted me. I got my first one of those about a year ago. Think they were going around for a while before that... |

I too have been receiving these for quite a while but they have been mostly from Nigeria and surrounding areas.
It is a good laugh when you read it but from what I have heard people have been suckered really bad and (rumored, cant back it up with facts) some have even been killed over it. |

If you are dumb enough to fall for something like that then you deserve to lose your money.

Ya, on the news they reported some lady who fell for one of those. She worked as a secretary or something at a law firm. Ended up EMPTYING the firms accounts to pay for the *money* from the scam. I think it was something like several million dollars.
They interviewed the senior partner. He was really sad, she'd bankrupted the firm. He wasn't mad at her, though. The worst part of was, she was arrested and about ready to go to trial, and she was *still* convinced that they were going to send her money.

Funny spam
Did anyone get the one yet about "the government is shutting down the Internet for its annual cleaning where they will remove junk mail and broken links" and such? They advise you to turn off your computer on a certain day for 24 hours so its not in the garbage removal. How funny is that?
If anyone wants to read the actual mail (it's really funny) just let me know and I will PM the message to you, I had to save it. :-) |

I've been getting these things once a day for a week or so lately. Someone must be needing some Christmas money...
I like to respond back with a short and sweet "lick my nuts" like I do with the junk ICQ messages... ---John Holmes... |

John,
Responding isn't such a great idea. When you do that you confirm that your email address is valid. Then you get lots of other special offers just for you!! |

Yeah, I know. who cares. That's what filters and the delete key is for. 9 times out of 10 the email address that you reply to in invalid, anyhow...
