Now this looks very promising. So rare to see someone that knows what they're doing!

problem resolved. Thank you

This guy posts a question, figures it out himself, and then quotes his entire message in the post telling us he found the answer. At least he had the decency to let us know he solved the problem so no one here would waste time on it. I guess it's not that funny, but I thought it was odd at the time.

oh em gee
So - I posted a Networking issue my office is having on another forum (Geeks2go):
thread link And one of their moderators flat out lied - calling my (created by me at my desk) visio document a homework assignment he had actually "seen before." Thank god the moderators on the shed are sane (mostly :P). Feel free to flame on foreign soil.

I'm guessing here, but if going over the 328ft, you could have just broken the cable at the limit and put in a small hub as a repeater in the same range, or you could use repeaters inline either. There is a limit to the numbers of net equipment you can use in terms of routers and hubs, but if this is W2W, and both Wan interfaces are in the same range, a hub *should* just act as an amplifier
I could just be speaking a load of old toot all the same ....

That's the solution to length We've already implemented - a switch in the middle. I've actually got it all working as of this morning. The reason I put this on threadspotting was how boldfaced a lie the moderator over there put down on the thread. |

switches and hubs are different, 3 switches, and then you're forced to subnet and the rest, where as a hub is an impassive amplifier, at least that's my understanding ...
