This is almost pathetic.
Please tell me why on earth my thread requesting help, which for some reason was moved to the "Project Help Wanted" forum, was completely removed. I want an answer - all I wanted was for it to be moved from that place, and someone has gone and removed it all. Regards PS. There should be a complaints forum |

I wasn't the one who removed it, but perhaps your question was:
1) Poorly conceived, 2) Poorly executed, 3) Potentially illegal, 4) Completely off-topic, or 5) Deleted by mistake. Why not try posting it again, perhaps thinking a little more carefully about how you're asking? Read the "Ask Questions the Smart Way" link in my sig, it's a good read no matter what. Just keep in mind that demanding answers is probably the surest way to NOT get them. We're all volunteers here, and people REALLY don't like that kind of attitude. I asked in the nicest way possible...I went straight to the point, explaining my problem in detail, and asked a few questions along the way.
People were already offering to help me. I know it was for one not demanding - I just needed a little advice :/ |

ephemeral,
Please feel free to repost your thread in the forum you want to. iirc, you were complaining about it being in the wrong forum, so it may have been moved but got lost somewhere at somepoint (although, afaik, it wasn't me). computer |

I once attempted to move a thread from Perl to Project Help Wanted and it apparently got lost. At first, I thought that the thread had simply been deleted from PHW after the move, but, thinking back on it, it seems more like it just disappeared (this was some time ago, however, so I doubt it's the one you were referring to).
We can keep an eye out and let the admins know if there's trouble with the move thread feature and hopefully they could do something about it if there is. infamous - No, that's how BOFHs handle gripes from their lus.. er... users. ![]() |

Normally the forum leaves a marker behind of the old thread, it will be the thread subject and have Moved: before it.

a.koepke<< it depends on what the mod chooses to pick. they give you an option of leaving a redirect or just moving it and leaving no redirect.

Normally, if its been politely moved to a more appropriate forum, we leave a redirect. If its just plain wrong, I move it outright and leave a message saying 'moved to xxxx from yyyy for zzzz reason'.

Looks like someone moved it outright then...
Ah well |

Thats how I do it as well. Additionally, if I do delete a post, I send either a PM or email to the user, explaining why, with suggestions on how to prevent the situation that caused the thread to be deleted from occuring again in the future.
