Yeah, come on Onslaught (aka "Mr I-can-program-anything-using-anything"). Hey while you are at making that, how about rebuilding the Windows XP Kernel, make us one thats faster and more stable. It shouldnt be too hard for someone of your level ![]() |

![]() why reinvent the wheel, I'll just replace the xp kernel with the one from FreeBSD. ![]() |

Well the API is different, but it should only take you an hour to make a wrapper for it that provides the Windows API to the FreeBSD kernel.

Encrypted p2p would be pretty cool. Should post it in the "Project Help Wanted" and see how many people say they can do it for $10 in 15 minutes or something

Lol the whole board can chip in. Actually, there is currently a project in the works, but unless it gains alot of popularity, u wont be able to find anything on it. I use IRC sometimes, but frankly, it's too much work and not enough options for my liking.

Hmmm.... actually, iirc, our buddy Munk has actually investigated the possibility of a perl program that will monitor KaZaa users' connections to your box to help you discover IPs for the purpose of blocking leeches.
Might wanna ask him about it... I don't know whether he ever got anywhere with it or not... |

Does that mean you could also have a perl program to spoof your ip, and prevent being blocked while you leech? Or to prevent being found and sued???
(out of curiosity, of course. I always share my files and buy my cds) Last edited by karsh44 : June 30th, 2003 at 03:39 PM. |

You don't need a Perl program to spoof your IP. Just go through a proxy, or, if you want to be really 1337 (and obnxoiously over complex) in your leeching, bounce the connection off zombies outside your network (that one might be tricky though... and a good way to get on someone's bad side) so they start getting blocked.
If you really want to play with KaZaA, set up two windows machines and have them send two huge files back and forth a few times (the systems's swap files come to mind since they shouldn't be something too many tpeople are sharing.... but I don't know what the odds are of actually finding the EXACT file you want on the Fasttrack system...). Then, sit in the middle with a Linux box and watch the connections as they work. Disconnect them a few times, do a find more sources, etc. There's a lot of people out there working on this sort of thing though.... go Googling! |

I know you don't need Perl to spoof the IP, I was just wondering aloud about it, since you mentioned that other program.
Watching the connections from Linux is a good idea. I just happen to have a LAN w/ 2 windoze boxes and one Linux... Keep me busy tonight maybe. ![]() |

Concerning encrypted p2p, check out Filetopia. But there's still no way to hide one's IP without a proxy or bouncer
