updating video card drivers
Hi,
I have a Micron Millenia 400 with win98 and an 8MB NVidia Riva 128 video card. At the NVidia web site there is a faq regarding this card that says you need to download a special driver at this link: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=pg_20010606588572 Listed there are the following 4 downloads for drivers: RIVA128-1.27dW311 665KB RIVA128-3.37W9xAGP 1MB RIVA128-3.37W9xPCI 1MB RIVA128-3.41NT4 469KB Would anyone have any idea which driver I need to download? |

RIVA128-3.37W9xAGP - if the card is fitted in a AGP slot.
RIVA128-3.37W9xPCI - if the card is fitted in a PCI slot. The other two are for win3.11 and WinNT4. //NoXcuz

Hi NoXcuz,
How do I know what type of slot it sits in? |

Open up the machine...
An AGP slot is a brown slot, usually the first slot from the processor, and is set back from the edge of the board. PCI slots are a little longer than the AGP slot and are colored white. ISA slots are about twice the length of the AGP slot and are colored black. If your system is new then it's likely that you'll have an AGP slot and many PCI slots but possibly no ISA slots (as these are old technology now). |

Hi,
I opened up the machine, but I couldn't tell what slot was what, but I was able to find an old review of the computer on zdnet, and it has PCI slots. Thanks for the help. |
