Well this is it folks, my local cable modem isp decided to put a cap on bandwith for every single modem they have!
Some host on a computer tv show said he received a 500$ surprise this month! This is scary because I checked my bandwith usage and i've downloaded around 30GB of data (not a lot compared to other months!) and last time I checked the cap was fixed at only 6GB. This must be because the technicians are on a strike (and the bosses on a lock-out!) and they wan't to either gave them the blame and/or make some profits due to the above. I can't blame them but now my freedom to download endless amount of stuff is gone. How bad.

Videotron rocked. I've dealt with four cable modem companies over the last six years or so, and Videotron were the only one I actually was impressed with. They had a bandwidth restriction, but it wasn't too severe penalties if you went over. They were generous enough too, that the only peole I knew that went over, were frankly, pushing around a lot of illegal bandwidth, so they couldn't really complain.
What I liked was they were the only company I used that didn't apply speed limits. I saw my cable modem use full 10/1 Mbps down/up quite regularly. Sweet. |
