Lightbulb w3c future standards for forms

Hello

was'nt sure where to post this but i am trying to follow up a discussion i had with a friend about the future of forms.

bascially this was the situation he said that forms at some stage in the future will not simply be active areas within which you can simply upload text or files to a site but will be able to create files within the form itself?

the situation he was giving would be something like say a
PHP Code:
<textarea></textarea
where you can not just type some text but you could potentially draw an image which upon submission to the site will be converted to say a gif or jpg?

is this true? searched the w3c site and the only thing i found was xforms which sound great but not quite what my friend was talking about!

anyway i know its all sort of vague but if anyone has the slighest idea of what i'm talking about then let me know??

a+
gar
