WebServer info needed

Im after some webserver / webmaster info and am unable to find any sort of forum on the net. Is it worth posting here, or does anyone know of a good forum?

It's not really server specific help I want, more of basic info and migration etc..

Thanks.

sounds good

I have been working on a web site for a company, and am nearly ready to go live. My current thoughts on the situation are to leave the exsisting site/files where they are and also add the new site.

Why? The company site is currently ranks very high in a few major search engines, google.com, yahoo and alltheweb.

If I was to remove the old site, then the results will slowly start to disapear (if i am coorect).

I would then run a custom script to add a meta refresh to all the current html files that redirects to the new site.

I have thought about this and this is all i can think of. Now my question would really be, is this okay. But i also would like to know what other options are available for when companies move the sites. Is there an easier way to migrate a site?

thanks

so long as the site keeps it's FQDN when it is moved, the search engines won't be affected - that's why we have DNS.
