What's with reviving the old threads?
What is going on with this? Is it happening in other forums, too? Lately it seems like every day I'm getting a message that someone has posted to a thread that's over a year old. The one today was nearly two years old.
Maybe we've finally gotten the point across to every to search before posting. We also need to start telling them to start a new thread if they have a new question... Want to see who has the oldest revived thread? Here's my contribution: http://forums.devshed.com/showthrea...64&goto=newpost Revived from May 18th, 2001 on April 11th, 2003. ---John Holmes... |

Seems to be happening a lot lately, it must be due to all the new traffic and newbies coming in and finding the old threads first.

I think it might have something to do with DevShed starting to use mod_rewrite not too long ago and now all these people that do searches on Google find these posts [most of which are really old] and then they reply to them not taking note of the date.
Or maybe they just think it's funny. ![]() |

Dang, that MySQL forum thread beat the one I replied to by a month!
http://forums.devshed.com/t18910/s....15&pagenumber=3 that guy meta didn't like the fact that I informed him that it was an old post and shouldn't be replied to. I was very polite with my comment and he decided to thank me by sending me this PM Quote:
What the.... I am not going to post what I replied to him though ![]() |

What is even worse about these old thread popping up is the pointless comments that are added to them that revive them in the first place.
If they are going to revive an old thread, at least let it be for a relevant reason. ![]() |
