Whats the deal with broadband in Melbourne, AU?

Hey there guys (hopefully someone here is from Melbourne)

My question is, how is it going with cable/dsl in - surprise surprise - Melbourne, AU (not FL)? Because from what I see right now is too dam expensive - above $100/month and some ****y bandwidth restriction. For real, 1gb of transfer/month, they oughta be kiddin', because right now I spend over 50 (dont ask).

So is that just my bad luck findig good isp there or they simply don't exist? I mean who in the world would paye 100's for some cable? Only may be kangaroos, and only very dumb one's?

Look, in all likelihood I will be moving to australia in next 10 months, but there is just no ****ing way I can live without cable or dsl, and I would hate to re-consider my decision because of lack of good relatively cheap internet access... left side driving is more then enough for me...

P.S. I tried look into most of these guys, but havent found anything I liked.

edit: the only one more or less acceptable is @home, anyone had any experience with them? yes? no? may be? Why am I reading this?

I use ADSL which you can get for $89 (AU) per month with a 3 gig download limit. Problem is they are looking at changing all the plans at the moment so I'm not sure what will be happening over the next few months.
Most of the plans are aimed at the big coporates and not the small users.
Cable coverage is also pretty patchy with a lot of areas not covered.

That also has the pricing of the new plans.

Unfortantly the broad band offering in Australia are pretty slim hopefully things will improve?
