how come there are so many "sister" forums for devshed? why don't they combine them into 1 super forum?

What annoys me about the different Shed sites is that you have to register for each one. Registration should be "universal" over the whole Shed properties...

Use perl. Or install a decent shell such as bash.

If you need to stay in the M$ space, write it in Visual Basic, which is actually not all that terrible a language. The Windows "cmd" shell is a joke.

So to me, IMHO, etc. the answer is don't do it that way. Find something more robust and easier to program and debug in.

You are talking kak. I just wrote a "cmd" script that uses robocopy to backup a bunch of files. Would it have made sense to write it in VB. No. I think you try to sound a lot more clever than you are.

Smart developers can use any language to do anything.

But if you are asking about where to post questions, as the OP did, then you probably are not facile with the tool. In that case, its worth time to look at other tools that may be faster.

Because JC bought all these sites, combining them in to 1 forum was asked about and shot down as it decreases revenue.

Ya we asked a few times about having one login, but the problem is because all the forums were bought they all had users already, so if we combined them what would you do with duplicate names? Who'd get it etc...
