If i have a dollar, is it my property? can i do with it whatever i want?

No, IIRC that dollar is property of united states government and is nothing but representation of debt they have to you. You can own gold, but you cannot own chunk of paper which some dead dude on it.

Defacement of currency in such a way that it is made unfit for circulation comes under the jurisdiction of the United States Secret Service. That really isn't enforced though. Another good point is that you can turn in a bill that is only 60% complete (be that one large piece or several small pieces) and they will accept it.

One funny thing you can do with the Australian $5 note is if you fold it a certain way you can get the Queen looking like a pair of butt cheeks. Someone showed it to me once, good thing to do to amuse people.
