who has ever snuck out of work?
anyone have a funny story about how you snuck out of work early to go home or to do something else?
what about creative ways to slack off or sleep on the job? currently i slouch at my desk, turn my chair to the wall, and hold a piece of paper in my hand so that even though i am sleeping it looks like i am just reading something to the outside observer. |

Ha! I wish. That's pretty good, actually... unfortunately, if I did that, this place would not function correctly...

Nope, but my boss back when I used to work at the computer center of my college used to go home for "lunch" as he only lived 5 minutes away and he'd come back with bloodshot eyes, a distinct smoke smell to him, as well as being really mellow for the rest of the day. Some times he would straight out tell me, I'm gonna go take a nap in this room, call me if someone comes.
Actually, I'm still good friends with the guy, easiest job I ever had. Been lucky though, almost every job I've had, has been really lenient with hours and accomodating for personal/moonlighting stuff. At my current job they accomodated, my predecessor as took time off to attend meetings to write a PHP book. As long as the work gets done, and everyone's happy with the timelines and quality it's usually in everyone's best interest to ease up on the rules and most of the time the days go better when I'm actually busy. -b

bcyde - I didn't quite catch what you meant here...
"At my current job they accomodated, my predecessor as took time off to attend meetings to write a PHP book. " Please tell me it was your predecessor who was accommodated while writing that book. ![]() |

Amen... I'm 15 minutes late? Yea, well I worked an hour and a half unpaid overtime Friday night to meet an artificial deadline that was caused by your poorly wrought decisions. Oh... and I did the job right, too. STFU and get out of my way - I have work to do - go manage something. ![]() I've been thiiiiiiis close to going into a rant like that on occasion... |

drgroove, yeah I goofed, that's what happens when you let your mind wander. My current place of work accomodated my predecessor by allowing him to work off hours, have time off, etc. so that he could finish his book. -b |

Nah, I don't have pet peeves. I'm just from Chicago, so I'm a bit of a ball breaker. ![]() |
