Why I use YAHOO and not google
After all these years I still use Yahoo. I didn't even know google existed until like a year ago. when did it come into the scene anyway?
When I need to do a search online, the first site that always pops up in my mind is YAHOO. There isn't a heck lot of difference between Yahoo and Google, but I am too familiar with Yahoo's search results interface, and I don't really like Google's. In addition, there is one feature in Yahoo that I really like - the ability to search more results from the same site. I haven't found that in google. |

Yahoo currently partners with Google to power its searches. To search more results from the same site in Google, do "site:yoursite yoursearch"

Google was launched in '99. I haven't used any search engine since it launched. Google can search w/in any site, using this string: [search_criteria] site:www.site.com This is how sites that use search engines 'powered by Google' achieve their results. The reason the results that Yahoo obtains are similar to Google's is that Yahoo's search is powered by Google, although that may change, seeing as Yahoo has acquired Google rivals Inktomi and Overture (which also owned AltaVista, interestingly enough). For the bonus round, can anyone tell me what 'Inktomi' means? (I know, just curious if anyone else does... and, don't google for the answer! )

Yes! Yahoo gets its search results from Google.
