I think causing remote terminals to reboot is quite serious, esp., since it involves someone potentially loosing hours of work. I'm not saying you rebooted anyone's machine while they were working on it though!

I am NOBODY to pass any kind judgement on the subject, so this really is totally IMAO. I've done just as bad!

IMHO, I think the spirit of hacking is one of self-exploration, where nobody gets hurt and the hacker can continue learning things from each system.

Must defend myself maybe a bit late but i was out and about

This class, with all the assignments, your work was stored in yoru fodler on a networked drive.
Being me and all i of course signed my work using simple Properties Author, out of habit mainly.

NOw imagin my suprise when i go to help someone and after noticing some custom HTML code in a front page project, which my "style" of formating behind it i right click on properties and check the author, Voila its me

The was how the class had been going. teacher new even talked to him, but did't at all care, well it wasn't just one person but the majority of the class would be taking the assignents of the peopel who knew what they where doing and then changing them slightly and trying to pass them off as their own work.

Hence my bit of anger at the teacher of this class and my peers. So my vengance in a way was to make them all shut down at random now and then. I took pride in my actual ability to not need to use front page and make my own coding, if simply because i could look around me and see people who barely use frontpage.

Under a normal situation i wouldn't have done that king of thing because i simply have respect if people are putting effort into their work. But when an entire class is copy my and my friens assignemnts well, respect goes out the window

thanks
and yes the ^ ^ ^ should be out of buisness heh

Freeloaders suck. But I was never the kid so proactive about it. I just made my work incredibly difficult to get, or at the very least as incomprehensible as possible to those who did.

Who am I kidding, I didn't start the semester projects until the night before they were due, leaving no time for anyone to steal my work

WHAT THE!?!?

wait wait wait, so you all saved your personal school work documents on a public server? what the hell kind of architechture is that? Man, that teacher is ASKING for cheating if I'm understanding that correctly.... jeez

And i thought being a debugger in the lab was bad, You could actually watch a person after you helped them AKA wrote, a function for them, go to the next debugger and have them write more code for them, jeez, you think you'd just learn to program....but oh man, haha, our school had a thing at the end of the year where each EU would vote on a slogan, and our CS slogan was "programmers do it till 5 am". Of course we didn't start assigments till 10pm, but hey, maximum output with minimum input was THE first thing i was taught. Try and steal that work, finishing it sometimes 10 minutes before class started, but ahhh, once it did boy did that sleep feel good... and the professors wonder why students always sleep during class time.....

LOL

I love that phoney dialog! "Click 'start' to automatically speed up your PC"... am I the only person who doesn't see anything labeled "start" on that ad??

That's exactly what I mean though - perfect example. To us techie types, that whole ad is totally meaningless gibberish - there isn't a shred of logic or truth in it. However, they're preying off the ignorance of the folks out there bopping about, and, since Windows PCs run so poorly on the junk-hardware that lame companies like eMachines and whatnot use, they're liable to buy it... ugh.. makes me sick.
