Wi-Fi

Okay, so.. Wi-Fi internet. Is it really as easy as it sounds? Buy the PC card, buy the gateway/router/access point.. install.. and you're done? No other monthly charges for a service or provider?

You still need a service provider... you don't get rid of that.

And that's about it.. the Access point replaces your hub, and the air replaces your cables.. (tho I understand the air comes free). Then all you need is a little PCMCIA wireless card for your laptop, or a normal IDE one for boxes - then you're away!

and do some searches on security, unless you want to provide free internet access (and access to your LAN) to anyone else with a wireless adapter.

Aye - Whilst we're on the security theme, turn your WEP on too. I have also heared that anything with a Prism2 chipset within can be broken with ease... As it happens, someone recommended this on another thread yesterday morning. I certainly /looks/ nice

Let us know when you're set up and we'll send a.k round with his pringles tube and chalk

Don't forget about mac address filtering. If you turn on all the security options, wi-fi's are pretty darned secure.
