wol under a router

I know this is not really the place but it's the closest!

So i've been strugling to get WOL to work on a computer. Everything seems to be fine, I activated WOL in the BIOS, there's a LED powered up when the computer is not and of course I connected the WOL cable to both the nic and the mobo.

The MAC address should be fine (I know it by heart at this point), XP and my arp table (linux) says the same thing. I tried several app too, wol, perl wol, poweroff (vmware nt).

I thought that maybe the router is blocking the packets?! The only settings on the router are to block ports, nothing to unblock and there's nothing set so I don't know.

I'm confused , what should I try next? I searched several sites with little to usually no support.

If anybody tried it, did it worked flawlessly?

Well nevermind. I read somewhere it requires some strange proprietary yellow wol cable and a pci config which I don't have neither. I hooked up a DFE538 (hhuuuuu, rtl8139) and it works like a charm.

That sad though, the 3com provided great throughput.
