Oddly enough, several years ago I responded to just such a thread by DevShed. I didn't even get an answer. I just assumed that they had read some of my stuff and formed an appropriate opinion.

Not exactly. The articles I write for http://what-is-what.com are reviewed, spell checked, and grammar checked. My Devshed posts don't get a third of that treatment. They are _not_ a good way to judge my writing, nor anybody else's.

Having written some articles published in magazines, I realize that one needs to accomodate the magazine's style. I won't work on that until I have a commitment to publish.

My work doesn't, as a matter of course, have every seventh word set up as a link to either an advertisement or a loosely-related reference to the material in question. I also try not to write in an overly-academic style. I'm neither a Hemingway nor a guru. I just try to present useful facts, or opinions where "facts" are subject to argument or interpretation.
