    A question for Rasmus

As a senior engineer at Yahoo! I get to hang out with cool people sometimes. This week I'm spending two days locked in the same room as Rasmus Lerdorf.. So here's your chance to field a question straight at him (nearly)..

I'll pick one question from the candidates (caveat: providing it's sensible and you can't just google for the answer).

Fire away - you have 24 hours to comply.

I had to Google who he was, hadn't heard of him before

Tell us about your new album -
when are you touring to promote it?

Sorry: the Rasmus not The Rasmus

Actually, really wish I could think of a smart question.
I was at a conference where Tim Berners-Lee was guest speaker -
I froze and couldn't think of anything then either.

Ask him why he stole my idea and tell him he still owes me money! He'll know what you're talking about, but knowing him, he'll probably try and avoid the question and pretend he doesn't know who I am.

Ask him if he'd like one of us to swing by some time to explain to him some of the more elementary concepts of data typing and variable scope.

    Cool.

Question: PHP6 is looking great (namespaces, no more magic_quotes, etc), but what's going to be new in PHP7?

Question: Recently there's been quite a few attacks on PHP and defectors to other languages like Ruby and Python for web apps. Which of these criticisms of PHP are valid? What would you like to change about PHP?

Question: What's the coolest new web tech?

. . . and arrays. Or better still, explain arrays to him.

Question: If you had not created PHP in the first place, what web scripting language do you think you'd be using today, given the current myriad of options and why (or why not as the case may be)?

Heh. I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and say Perl... just... just seems... somehow it just came to me for no reason.

Question: How ****ing annoying is it when people ask you questions about your 10 year old project instead of discussing the job at hand, football or women?

To add on to Simon's question, when is 7 proposed to be released? (Early estimate)

Question: I've heard rumors that PHP was supposed to become a lot more like Java a few years down the road. Is that true? If so, why?, and how will that impact the usage of PHP?

Question: What was the one biggest challenge with starting out?
