Ah Drama at the workplace :)

ok so this one girl at our workplace is causin a bit of trouble that could get me and gameyin fired ( we work at same place) and there came up a question that I figured you guys would know more then me

Long story short, the girl is gonna get fired, and she is trying to get me and my brother fired too, by saying Gameyin texted her saying "haha your gonna get fired". But Gameyin swears on his life he never sent that message, like he is offering to show the owner his Verizon bill to show his texts and prove he didnt

heres the problem, she came in one day to our store owner and showed him a text saying "ur gonna get fired" and the number was that of Gameyins, in the text.

Now let me just say now, I did not see the text, so I can't see and possibly point out some of the dumb possibilities. but the owner did check the number vs Gameyins cell # and it matched

So my question to you guys, is there a way to send a text and make it appear that a certain number sent it to you?

Please no flaming, this is a serious thread. If mods feel it needs a forum change then go ahead.

In Gameyins case yes, because he is a shift leader (almost manager) so he is expected to be mature and stuff, and our owners wont tolerate that behavior. I will also get fired because I am his brother and I have talked with the girl before

The owners have the thinking style of "**** it lets just get rid of all them, hire new people, and its all good"

Supposedly... Never personally used it but have heard of the site by a few in some passing comments.

    Or, even better:

Wait until they're away from his phone and quickly text yourself that message. That way it's both on their phone record and from their phone. There's no real way to prove you didn't do it, either.

When I get a text from someone it either says the phone # (like the ones I get from AT&T telling me my automatic payment was paid, or the rare spamtext that makes it through) or it says the person's name. So far as I can figure it's getting the name from my contact list. Now, I suppose I could have, say, my partner Judy send me a text that says "ur gonna get fired" then I could go into my contacts and change her name to 1-415-555-1212 and voila perhaps it now looks like that jerk at 555-1212 sent the text.

    Devshed never fails me <3

I'll start researching the validity of the site

Wait, does this work only with phone calls? Because the girl got a text, not a call

Interesting post, I will have to experiment with this. Like I said, i think if i got to see it I could prove if it was fake or real a lot faster then a 60 year old, seeing as I'm a geeky teenager

But this post was definately..interesting. At first I just assumed it was some program/site, but I never even considered the stupidly simple solutions.....

Hm..the problem is at the bottom of the text (with verizon) ...well they usually go like:

    From: (name)
    message
    CB: (persons #)
Date (ex Sep 10, 2:54 pm)

assuming my manager is not a dumbass and checked the # from the CB slot...I think i may be misunderstanding your post Tim. Could you elaborate?

edit: OOH I understand what your saying. I tried changing the name part, but it still says the CB number which displays her actual number. Damnn man I really wanna see that text it would help me solve this so much faster. I know she is lying because on the night she supposedly got this text, my brrothers phone was dead. How do I know this? Because we were working together and it died around like 7pm and he was telling me about it. But the girl called at like 11:30 at night saying she got the text, which is literally impossible

People which have the intention of firing someone very rarely need a good reason to do so and a text message of highly unimportant content is hardly going to be a reason worth mentioning to fire someone. Its more like an excuse.

holodoc...you don't understand. These are old people, not familiar with technology. Like I said, they have the mindset of, "Theres problem in the workplace? Let's just fire all them, hire replacements, and everythings okay."

I'm not here to explain to you how things work, I was just explaining the situation, please lets all get on topic

I found a way to make it look like it with verizon. If i go to the text message settings and turn off the option to display callback number, then change their name to their number, it does look like i can make it look like anyone sent the text. I REALLY need to see the text to confirm this though, but judging that you can spoof a caller id phone call, I do believe the technology is out there to spoof a text message too. I already know you can make a text message anonymous through verizons site, so the technology definately exists, no denying it.

There is nothing to understand here except the fact that you need to grow up and accept the fact that if you get fired it will not be because of that text message.

As for your original question the answer is yes. There are services that still offer to send spoofed text messages either free (with adds which reduce the maximum number of available text message characters) or payed ones which can't be distinguished from the ones sent from the original number.

However there is a way to possibly identify these messages since all of the gateways sending them need to supply the international country prefix in order for their messages to reach the destination. So if you get a text message with a country code prefix from a contact inside your state it usually means that there is a high probability that a foreign international gateway sent it, possibly a gateway with phone number spoofing capability.

Oh come on, Skipt, you're posting this tripe here and expect exactly what?

I mean, I have to give you points for the balls to post this shit, but do you really expect anyone here to actually buy it? Seriously? DUDE!

And, I don't think an employer would fire someone for emailing / texting "haha your gonna get fired". I can, however, imagine a fucking DUMP TRUCK LOAD of reasons a reasonable person might want to fire GameYin.

Here's what you must do if you want to have even a tiny chance at keeping your job: DO NOT back your shithead brother up on this. Distance yourself. He's gone. GONE, bro. Go to your employer and tell him/her straight up that he is not you and you is not he, and in fact you're pissed off at him for dragging you into it. If you want to keep your job, you must sacrifice your brother (who does NOT deserve your support on this anyway).

Fact is, Skipt, your boss is probably looking for any reason at all to get rid of your brother, and probably for good reason. You *DON'T* need GameYin tied around your neck like an anchor, let him sink or swim on his own.

But honestly, Skipt, don't come here with this song and dance and expect us to buy it. I mean, there's a 50/50 chance you're a schizophrenic, and you and this "GameYin" are one and the same. In which case, TAKE YOUR FUCKING MEDS.
