Nice article

Thanks for your detailed article, hope you can provide us with another informational article. I would like to suggest an xml and php articles from you, i noticed from an excerp from you article:

"I’ve been messing around with XML and XSL transformations quite a bit lately, using my favorite scripting language, PHP, to create XML documents on-the-fly using data retrieved from a MySQL database. This is cool, because I can then use PHP 4.03’s new Sablotron extension to transform these XML documents into a format viewable within a PC, PDA or cellular phone WAP browser. "

Can you give us an article on this??
Thank you.

speed

If not for the slow down load I would give the articles in your site very high marks.

Using a high speed connection the average download from your site is well over a minute.

just fyi

Re: speed

Where are you connecting from, Mars? ;)

I've been reading Devshed for quite a while, and never have had a problem, and I connect from a 28.8 connection!

Keep in mind that just because you are unable to connect well with some site, this does not mean that it is the site's problem. It could very well be some problem found on the route your connection takes to reach the site.

Re: mysql

I think no one would be able to explain creating sub-queries in mySQL to you, since it simply is (currently) not supported on mySQL.
<br>
Like the mySQL documentation states, most of the time you can get the same results by using joins.

why char

Hi,
I was wondering why when you created your columns in your example project you showed a preference for the char type over the varchar?
thanks
