nice article!

Thanks for a nice article, specially for those who know html but not xml. After reading the article it looks its not going to be so difficult after all.

But isn't it going to take more time if you use DTD from a different site.

Re: nice article!

As you need to go through a WAP gateway to go online, and I assume that like any ISP they do some caching, I would guess that the DTD is probably cached at the gateway (especially as _every_ user of the gateway will need it)

WAP isn't the only way

WAP enabled devices will be great but full development is still a ways off... and there are not that many devices that are available yet. AcrossWireless has a product that allows wml content to be utilized using the legacy handsets with a select subset of the WML standard using the SMS capabilities of older handsets.

WML URLs with great development potential

We, like yourself, appreciate the tremendous potential of technology. We have considered the WAP enabling language WML and we have secured the following URLs for potential development by a suitable player in the emerging world of WAP technology.

http://www.wmlit.com
http://www.wmlit.net
http://www.wmlit.org
http://www.wmlit.co.uk

So, why are we telling you this. The answer is simple, we are looking for a client to buy the above URLs. I am sure that you will agree that, in the world of WAP technology, "you can buy it, you can sell it, you can tell it, so long as you WML it".

Please visit our web site at www.wmlit.com and then let us know if you would like to submit an offer to purchase these URLs and/or if you believe that you could help us to find clients for these URLs.

Good start

Very nice article to start of with. Explains everything well without going to deep and confusing. Hope more tutorials are to follow perhaps explaining the 2 "major" standards for WAP Browsers and their differences. Being a wap developer myself I would like to hear oter peoples opinions and ideas on these sorts of things.

Nice introduction

This is a very nice introduction, especially for those like myself who are trying to get started with WML. Very easy to understand, and very useful links to resources. Now I'm on my new WML journey. Thank you!

Checking which browser/device.

Great tutorials at DevShed, but does anyone know if it is possible to script the root of a site in such a way that it can determine whether to serve up a HTML/PHP home page or a WML/PHP home page. This would depend if the request was made by a mobile (WAP) device or a PC Browser.

Is this possible?

Thanks.
Martin.
