Error in article

"Back in the good old days of HTML 2.0, when Microsoft and Netscape hadn't yet introduced <DIV>s and <LAYER&gts, most Web designers relied almost entirely on tables to align and place images, text and other objects on their Web pages."

Tables in HTML 2.0 ???
<br>
Tables weren't available until version 3 browsers came along.

WML in real phones not simulators.

One ommission from an article discussing WML and tables is that the most popular (or should that be longest available) WAP phone doesn't support tables.

The Nokia 7110 renders tables as a list not in table format.

Also be aware that the simulators/toolkits tend to produce the expected results when rendering and stick to the official WML guidelines but the phones don't.

Even Nokia's SDK (one of the best WML editing tools) allows oversized decks, which won't actually load into the phone.

And there are also issues with the Nokia Toolkit rendering formatted text correctly ie. bold, centred etc... which the 7110 doesn't support. I'm not sure about the Ericcson R320 although if the R380 is as good as the emulator I know which I want.

The Motorola TimePort supports text formatting correctly, but I'm not sure about table rendering.

Demystifying WML (Part 2)

Demystifying WML \(Part 2\)

After a quick-and-dirty crash course in the basics, the concluding article in this two-part series covers WML's table tags, teaches you how to create forms that accept user input, and shows you how to set up default actions for the cards in a WML deck.

Please discuss this article in this thread. You can read the article here .
