DTML vs TAL

I had the impression that DTML is obsolete and future Zope applications should use TAL?
Am I wrong?

Why DTML?

The concept is great, but is it necessary?

Global files for server-side programming can do the same with custom functions with perhaps, less overhead.
Do we need an extra server side program taking CPU usage?

I think that what is out there including XML and it's "relatives" can do just about everything that web users are ready for.

Anon.

Re: DTML vs TAL

I think that TAL is a presentation language, very easy, great for designers.

DTML is a "middle language" enought easy script langage to do simple scripts for simple sites used by programmers.

python is the language to do all in Zope, but you have to invest more time to learn it than tal and dtml.

Re: DTML vs TAL

I am under the same impression since I heard there will be no DTML in Zope 3.
However, most of the information on the web regarding zope seem to be focused on DTML.
