    Re: open64 problem

    2 weeks ago I also found a solution.
    I took sources and libraries from an erlier version of mysql (3.22.26a) and started a new compiler-run and the it worked.
    much greetings to Julien and Nikey :-)

    MYSQL isn't working to setup stuff properly

    I'm using mysql Ver 6.5 Distrib 3.20.32a for pc-linux-gnu (i686) on Linux-Mandrake 6.1 (Kernel 2.2.13-7mdk-Labnet) (Yeah, it's a custom compile)
    <br>

    <br>
    first of all, it won't let me change the password the way the help files describe.
    <br>

    <br>
    Second, when creating the database, I had to use mysqladmin to create it, then it wouldn't let me use Grant. Said there was a parsing error. Everything appears to be setup properly... why won't it configure properly?
    <br>

    <br>
    In fact, even the command-line is different. I have to specify the database to use on the command-line.
    <br>

    <br>
    Thanks for any help.

    no data in PHP but normal data at MySQL prompt!

    I have gotten all applications installed and working. MySQL will let me create, add and select from the test database "example".
    <br>
    <br>
    I have followed the tutorial step by step. I added in a record (homer at 555-1234) and when I run select at the MySQL command line it gives me the record back. But when I access it from PHP it says there are no results. It isn't an account error because it does access the database, it just doesn't return any data!

    Re: lame

    HEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHEH!!! I suck at this. I suck at is so bad I laugh. I need help and it seems not many books are around on the topic of MySQL. I need this help. Nuf Said. Actually no. Not enough. I need this help to do something to help others have some fun. Perhaps it would be easier for me to hook up to an IIS site and work it out the easier way using Interdev (which I do actually own). This site rocks. ROCKS!!!! ROCKS!!!
    <br>
    <br>
    The Webmaster giving the tutorial ROCKS!!!!!
    <br>
    <br>
    Now that's enough said. Congrats on a great idea guys. Some of us weee lowly programming sloths appreciate it more than your ever gonna know by the crap that one Mr. Lame has laid on you. Chow all. I'll be listening and learned despite garbage bags full of bleeeeepin comments from the peanut gallery.

    Re: no data in PHP but normal data at MySQL prompt!

    Here is an example of working code:

    <!-- Code -->
    <p><pre><font color=#008000><xmp>
    <?
    MYSQL_CONNECT('server','username','password');
    $query = "SELECT * from TABLENAME";
    $result = mysql_db_query("DBNAME", $query);
    while ($r = mysql_fetch_array($result)) {
    $name = $r["TABLENAME_FOR_NAME"];
    $phone = $r["TABLENAME_FOR_PHONE"];
    echo "Name: $name Phone: $phone<br>";
    }
    ?>

    </xmp></font></pre><p>
    <!-- Code -->

    Note, read over the code and replace the values, which I typed in caps, with the real values. This is just bar bones code to do what you want. I would recommend seeing what each line does, and trying to then add features you see from other scripts here.
    <P>
    Thanks,<br>

    Re: How To Delete Entries

    Considering you do not assign an article ID, I will supply code to delete it by the headline. Now keep in mind you need to change some of the values so that it works with your specific page

    <!-- Code -->
    <p><pre><font color=#008000><xmp>

    <?
    if (isset($headline)) {
    @MYSQL_CONNECT('SERVER', 'USER', 'PASS') OR DIE("Unable to
    connect to database");
    @$query = "DELETE from TABLENAME where headline = \"$headline\"";
    @$result = mysql_db_query("DBNAME", $query);
    if ($result) {
    echo "Article Deleted";
    } else {
    echo "Article Not Deleted";
    }
    } else {
    Enter Headline to delete: <input type='text' name='headline'> <input type='submit' value='Delete!'>
    }
    ?>

    </xmp></font></pre><p>
    <!-- Code -->

    Thats about it, email me if you need any help.
