Commercial solution
An easy way to do this for a business is to use Chiral Software's Mobile Web Module. The Mobile Web Module is an Apache DSO which plugs in to Apache server, and automatically recognizes devices (phones or regular web browsers) and transforms both html and images appopriately. It is the quickest, easiest way to convert your web server into a WAP WML server. The coolest feature is that you don't need to have a special wireless URL, like wap.hostname.com. The Mobile Web Module detects devices so you only need one URL. Please contact me if you are interested.
Another good way to do it, if you don't run your own web server, is to use Wireless-Enabled Hosting(tm). See: http://chiralsoftware.net/hosting-customer.html. Basically, you just host your site with a Wireless-Enabled Hosting(tm) company and it transforms your HTML and images for you, detects devices, etc. It costs about the same as a regular hosting service but you get WAP/WML for free.
