    rewrite

    RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8081/VirtualHostBase/http/zope.domain.com:80/site/VirtualHostRoot/$1 [P]

I like the above method, anything wrong with it?

    this statement not true

There are a number of different ways to get Apache working with Zope -however, all of them rely on using CGI to pass Apache requests to Zope

    using apache & mod_rewrite doesn't involve CGI

    incorrect

On this site (DevShed.com) we use Apache and mod_rewrite with Zope. You don't need CGI at all. Zope can be and typically is run as a standalone server. You can use Apache with mod_rewrite to proxy requests to the Zope server.

Wrong info / can't log in

    Hi!

    1. I get a Zope-error message when I try to log in and I have cookies enabled.

    2. I strictly followed your instructions but when I tried to view the myhost/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi Page I get "The page cannot be displayed" (Internal server error 500)

It would be a nice and desirable thing if the infos you publish to the net were accurate - otherwise it's just a case of negative information. (Zero would be to state you don't know how use Zope with Apache in the first place) instead of letting the reader come to that conclusion after 2 hours. Embarrasing!

    Re: rewrite

I find that debugging rewrites is best done with:

    RewriteLog "/path/to/log"
    RewriteLogLevel 9

But get rid of it when u finish or u will slow down the webserver..

    FastCGI and multiple Zope processes

I need my Zope site to run as a pool of PROCESSES (not threads). FastCGI would fit nicely, but I need a way to use the FastCgiConfig directive from mod_fastcgi, since it allows for dynamic CGI apps. All the documentation I've seen so far uses the FastCgiExternalServer directive instead, which doesn't allow for a pool of app processes to be created automatically by Apache upon demand. Should I use PCGI instead? I would prefer to avoid using it for performance reasons.
    Anyone can help? Thanks, C.
