Best Linux WebDev Platform
Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but...
Right now I'm working on a website that will host linux video tutorials for free. But in the future I'd like to add things such as a login system and order system and some other fancy features. So right now I could almost do everything in plain HTML/CSS and maybe some javascript. But I want to have the option of more robust features incase the time calls for them. I'm looking for opinions on web dev platforms from people with experience using them. It must run on linux both IDE and Server. I'm experienced in ASP.NET, but the linux support for that sucks and monodevelop isn't good at all with ASP.NET. I know a bit of java so If you think a J2EE server might be worth while I'd like to hear about it although I'm not looking for anything too heavy duty and I think java might be too much. Opinions? |

If you already know/familiar with ASP.NET don't even consider Java. Java is a good platform, but the bugs in the software are so high in count that its not worth it. I would stick to your linux server and use PHP as your programming platform. The help with PHP is so great it outnumbers any other platform 2 to 1. (In my opinion, thats not a fact)
