Best Windows Text Editor and FTP Client
Ok, so I realize a text editor isn't necassarily related to an FTP client, but that's what's on my mind right now so just bare with me.
My favorite text editor is KATE for linux, however; I can't seem to find something that I like equally for Windows. I'm currently using TextPad, because one of the features that I absolutely love is the drag and drop side panel. As for FTP clients, the one I am using is Core FTP Lite. I find this very functional and haven't had any problems with it. So my question is, what are you all using? And is there something that mimics KATE for windows? Jason |

I use Notepad++ and love it. For free FTP programs I use FileZilla it's not too bad. Although it can use SFTP, it seems kinda slow, so for that I use Secure File Transfer Client.

I use both ConText and SmartFTP. I have found both to be very good. I switched over to ConText from Crimson only due to the number of language extensions that ConText supports. -- Lance |

For FTP Client, Filezilla is solid (what I use). FlashFXP I think also seems to be popular, but it's not free.
For a text editor, you have PSPad, which is free, Cream, and UltraEdit(not free). |

I just recently started using a new text editor, PHP Designer 2006, which is the best one ive ever used, and ive tried over 15 diffrent text editors, every popular and even some not so popular ones out there. This is by far the best, and supports tons of language with highlights and code hints. A very useful feature is the in-program browser, you can switch between tabs previewing the page, and it will even parse any scripting code in it. One of my favorite features is the way you create projects, instead of being edgy about projects its really loose, all you do is put in the project name, and the folder its at, and what file types you want the program to display for that project (like php, html, css, so it will hide images and such that you dont want to edit and just get in the way), and then all you do is goto the project viewer, click it, and on the side menu all the files that fit the file types you specified & subfolders appear, very time saving, and of course it has tabbed editing windows to edit lots of files at the same time.
