Question Choosing Software

I am looking for new software for web design/development. Currently I use Dreamweaver MX, but I am unhappy with it. (Mainly the price.) In all actuallity, I use dreamweaver only for a couple things-
1) Viewing code (I only use code view)
2) I LOVE how it colors code differently
3) For uploading and site file management

I write my style sheets seperate. So basically, I really only use dreamweaver for a couple simple features. I would like to purchase a much lighter development package that has these features, but is much nicer on the wallet. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

You should be able to find lots of free or shareware editors, like jEdit or UltraEdit that do syntax highlighting. Some, like jEdit, let you edit remote files through FTP, SFTP, webDAV, etc. So an editor isn't hard to find.

You could probably also find lightweight web editors like Nvu that could fit your needs. I'd try out the few freebies and if nothing works, look through download.com's shareware list.
