CMS difficulty deciding
I have a short list of Drupal (latest) and Joomla! and cannot decide which one. Qs in my mind:
1. I would like a test server on my XP Pro machine (currently running IIS but do not mind also installing Apache). 2. Want a tableless page design and conformance to WCAG. 3. Accessibility is crucial to my next website. 4. Not a PHP programmer. 5. Need to add javascripts and will be playing with AJAX methods. 6. Keep options open for Linux and Windows hosting. 7. Need a good selection of easy modules and plug-ins. Can anyone help me make the decision? |

Content Seed might be one option unless you are looking for more like a portal-type system

well really you should have a linux testing machine not windows if you want Joomla! or Drupal to work properly but that bias aside...
Drupal is much more User friendly it is a quick and easy install with a load of plugins, extensions, and all that stuff but if you want to make a really good website with drupal you need to be able to know how to modify settings create your own themes and other things that they take for granted, of course they do have excellent on site documentation and that will make everything a bit easier out of the box Joomla! is more difficult to use and you might need to buy a book to learn how to use ti really wel Not much documentation but they do have hyper responsive forums and plenty of friendly people to help you out with anything you need they also have much more templates and extensions that you can use and find pretty easily if you look around on the net so all in all If you want real ease of use and Go with drupal if you want more Flexibility go with Joomla! of course this all just my opinion so if there are any hardcore Drupal or Joomla! people out there who somehow take offense at my review of Drupal and Joomla! too bad its my opinion ![]() |
