Dreamwaver 2004
This is what i use to design with, i hand code don't use the drop and drag way. my point is in dreamwaver the design never looks the same way as when uploaded it can be 100% right and look rigth on the net, but in dreamwaver it looks crap.
Is it something am doing wrong. |

do you mean in the WYSIWYG interface? if so it won't look like it does in a browser... Personally I never use the "Preview in Browser" function...for testing static pages I just save the file and open it with a browser...if it's a dynamic page...same thing only called from the server... [edited] WYSIWYG interface="design View" |

you might take a look at all the preference settings...by un-checking a lot of the show/don't show switches you can change the "design view" to a more refined (browser like) view...
but those visual aids can be useful when breaking down existing (third party) html files that need editing or re-working...they can save time when looking for specific sections of the markup when working with unfamiliar pages etc... I really like DW for CSS work... |

Using Dreamweaver to preview things like this is OK as long as you're not doing anything to special. As soon as you start moving into a few CSS styles it does tend to have a few issues with things. As you've found, displaying the site in anything that's not your target browser won't show you what it really looks like. That's like designing a site for IE and previewing it in Firefox... Will look fine sometimes, but other times will fall over.

There's no need to be concerned with what Dreamweaver (or any WYSIWYG editor) says, afcbob. They aren't always reliable and by no means, perfect.
Instead concern yourself with what shows up in the browsers your testing, and the web standards you've used to create your page. Also, if you're concerned about right/wrong, it's important to validate your code.Good luck. ![]()
