Email autoresponders with computer off???

Hi here, great site and some very useful information. I have a bit of a problem. I wanna create a shop on my site selling information by email, which i want to totally automate. The problem is I know how to do auto responders in outlook etc but this requires your pc to be on all the time. Does anyone know a way of doing this so its done from the server side or any other way where my pc does not have to be on 24/7? There has to be a way cos if you can do it with a comments page and have someone get an email saying 'thanks for your comments', you must be able to set up multiple autoresponders based on certain criteria. Any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated!
