Event(s) Listing/Directory website. What do I need?

Hi,

I want to build an event(s) listings or a directory website. Which allows users to post upcoming events, such as Tradeshows, Concerts, Signings, Appearances, etc. Driven by members, who post their upcoming events. Also, I'd like to have a payment processing back-end, which allows users to purchase additional services/features... sort of like how eBay charges for pictures or fancy designs, etc.

Is there a script for this type of thing? What technology and scripting language should be used?

Want to build it up nice and slow, probably have launch in the flavor of craigslist then build a nicer design and add features as time goes on. Basically, build a hybrid of Pollstar/Craigslist/eBay, but for event listing.

Any input would be highly appreciated.

You might check out Ocean12's calendar to see if that would fir your needs. You can then easily add on the payment side to add more functions

This is an old post, but check out the EventOrb Portal if you are still looking for a co-branded event management solution.
