How to set up subversion to manage my web development needs...

Hello all,

Is there a how-to out there for setting up subversion, particularly to handle my web development needs. I write sites with the typical web languages mostly php but some RoR (just started to get into it). I started reading the subversion and tortoiseSVN help files but it takes a little more for me to wrap my head around the placement of files.

Do I put the repository folder in the htdoc's dir or is the actual location of the files being manipulated seperate from the location of the svn repository? thread, branch, tag... are any of these the production location in my web root?

Just need a tutorial that talks to me as a web developer and not a C++ one.

Thanks ahead of time for your advise and direction.

-Mario

1) Read the subversion book here

2) This is a php forum, so I'm not sure why you are posting here.

For the record a subversion repository location is seperate from the location of the working files. So i can develop in htdocs and commit changes to my svn repository outside of htdocs.

As for why did I post here... I didnt see a general development area of the forum. I figured as this is the most viewed area of the forum I was bound to find someone who knew the answer.

Thanks for replying hopfully someone else will find this useful.
