personally I recommend dreamweaver mx,I think it is the best editor what ever you are editing ,it also can create dyanmic pages like asp and php and coldfusion etc

Some of the well known editors such as Macromedia, Adobe and Microsoft are covered. I've never heard of the last 2 (in the article) or the Coffee Stuff mentioned above. You should be able to download trial versions and see.

Some good questions are:-

-Can you check html validity, cross browser, css compatibility etc?
- Will the WYSIWYG editor alllow you to add php,asp,coldfusion markup without interference and then allow you to do a live data view?
- Compatibility with other apps e.g Flash, Photoshop etc
- Are you a coder or designer?
- Database connectivity (enough said)
- How many $$$$ you nead to shell out ?

I am going to have to agree with bergner on the editor question. I tend to do almost all my work with VI also. It is great to be able to use the same tool to code equally as comfortably in every language of currently of any interest, regardless from where or on what equipment you are working. VI is not alone in this respect, but it is what I happened onto first. Emacs is equally (or possibly more?) powerful, but I've run into many situations where only vi was present.

BTW, I noticed noone has mentioned Quanta or Bluefish?
