I Need to decide what language\DB\system is right for the project
I will be recieving my first fairly large project, which is an online bookstore.
I had initially planned on using osCommerce, but im not sure anymore... What concerns me, is that the store will have in excess of 80,000 books... I want the site to run as effeciently as possible. So should i be developing a system from scratch? or would osCommerce or any other open source application be ok to use? |

Hello pritesh_karma, and welcome to DevShed!
It would be easier to not reinvent the wheel. If there is something to do what you wanted, it would probably be best, in most cases, to use that.

I do not think that you should develop a system from scratch. If osCommerce fits your needs why not to take and modify this script? MYSQL can handle much more than 80,000 entries. So mysql/php should be ok for your project
