Looking for site ideas

Hi, I want to build a site for me and my friends that would allow us to make predictions/bets on topics that we would choose or create.

e.g. My friend wants to bet that a certain NBA player will average 10 points or less next year. Or another friend wants to bet (predict) the amount of Category 4 hurricanes to hit Florida this year. We are always coming up with silly/outrageous predictions on a variety of topics.

Basically a user could log in, choose an existing prediction (in gambling they're called futures) and enter his prediction. But also a user would be able to start a new thread/prediction so not just a webmaster/operator would have to create them all.

I have looked for some wagering scripts but have yet to find anything.

Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts?

you could use a forum for this, wouldnt be fancy but might suffice.

Maybe have a look at YABB or phpbb.

They are both free.
