Open Source CMS? Joomla? mambo?
Hi:
I've been developing some web applications over the past few years using straight PHP/MySQL programming in HTML pages. I've seen some info and done some reading about CMS systems like Joomla and Mambo but I haven't taken the plunge and installed one yet. This is a huge topic and perhaps it's been addressed previously so excuse my naivite but how do these packages fit in and around PHP / HTML/ MySQL, etc? Obviously they make the whole process of content management and authoring simpler and more (automated?). But, do they make PHP programming obsolete? Also, which CMS systems are people aggregating towards? Do any seem to be more robust than others? Thanks for your comments. |
