Password Protected Directories - Suggestions Please

I just went through a horrible ordeal with Aladdin software and I do not want to go through it again.

I am in need of a good php program to setup a member area on my site. I am currently using one called Aladdin, but it is just not robust enough. They made a bunch of promises but failed to come through. Now I am getting my money back, but I have to replace it.

What I need is a is as follows:
  • Users to fill out a registration form and have it send an email authentication and then display the url of the protected area so they can get in.
  • I need full template control
  • I need to be able to toggle new registrations on and off.
  • One account has access to multiple directories.
  • Manual account adding.

I have seen programs that do the above, but I am also looking for something that does the following:
  • Fully automated or manual (my choice)

I need to be able to switch from automatic registration mode to manually approve by the admin and when in manual approve mode, I need an email to go to the customer telling them that all accounts are to be approved manually and they will be activated soon. And when approved, I need it to send them their welcome letter.
  • The ability to add fields to the registration form and choose what is a required field and what is not.

This is the most important. I need more information from the customers. For example, I need to know what company they are representing and what product line they are looking for. I need to have these as required fields.
  • Multiple registration levels and access.

I need to be able to have level 1 directories as well as level 2 and level 3 directories. When the user is registered, they are level 1. I need to be able to switch them to level 2 or 3. I need a 2nd or 3rd possible form to fill out that will automatically set them the level 2 or 3. I have customers that are monthly subscriptions and that gives them access to "directory 1" and I have other customers that just need access to their own private directory.
  • Monthly subscriptions

Is there any way to tie this into a payment service (e.g.. Paypal) and if they do not pay, the account is suspended?

Does anybody have any ideas on where I can get such a program. I do not mind spending money, I just hate wasting money.

It almost sounds like you need a custom solution. I went through a ew scripts that I knew, but the directories really through it for a loop.

Are you looking for ASP, .NET, or PHP?

I would like to see something out of the box. I can modify my needs to some degree. I need a php solution. Maybe you have a few products I can look at. I was already looking at www.needsecure.com, but they do not reply to my emails and they are int he Ukraine. I need something that has good support as well.
