Question Photo Management Software

Hi,

I'm looking for a robust, flexible and fast photo management system for a photo agency, preferably in PHP, with excellent IPTC support (for searching and indexing), lightbox feature, e-commerce capabilities, and open source, so it can be eventually modified to serve specific needs.

I've been testing LightboxPhoto.com, but the system seems to have various drawbacks, such as the lack of customization due to the encrypted code. Also, ImageFolio.com, although feature-rich and open source, has bloated and slow plain CGI Perl code.

I would really appreciate any ideas, feedback, etc, regarding any other photo management suites that you might know.

Thanks,
Ralph

Have you checked out Gallery (http://gallery.menalto.com )?

I looked into quite a few photo systems for a photography client who wanted to show/sell his photos online and this one has nice feature, plus active development on both the current version (1.5) and the new version (2.0).

Another option is Coppermine (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net ), which seems to integrate well into CMS.

Of the open-source variety these seem to be the most popular.

Good Luck, and if you find something better, let us know.

Thanks for the information! I'll be taking a look at Coppermine.
