Popular Multiple server file manager used?

I am looking for a commonly used file manager that can help manage and archive code, databases and documents
required for future web developer contractors.

the file manager needs to allow

1. different permissions levels for various contractors.
2. incoming multiple server data.
3. outgoing data to multiple servers.
4. archive

Is there an existing way to manage databases/code for example organizations who want a single project manager
to gain control over content over sites from multiple servers?

Thanks.
