Recommend Text Editor, FTP/Telnet

I am currently upgrading my computer system and thought I should have a look at some new web development related software.

I use a text editor, MM Homesite+, for most of my work, coding PHP, ASP, xHTML, style sheets etc.

What do you guys use for this sort of work and do you think there are better tools for WinXP than Homesite+ for straight ahead web coding?

Also I could do with a better FTP/Telnet set-up. Ideally I would like something that can do FTP/telnet, but also can interface with Apache to handle chmod, file and directory management in a more intuitive way than using command line.

Any recommendations for WinXP FTP/Telnet?

I am not necessarily looking for free/shareware.
