Seeking commercial mapping solution

We're using mapquest's free link service now but the client wants to know what solutions are available that don't take the user to a 3rd party site.

MapPoint (formerly MapBlast) from MS starts at $8,000/yr and goes to $15K (for 500K transactions/yr). MapQuest starts at $5,000 (awaiting more info).
Awaiting info from Thomas/Rand-McNally

From free to $5000 is a big difference.

Would like to know if anyone has found a happy medium?

TIA !
