Sourceforge
I know this isnt directly related to java, but i thought that someone may know the answer due to working on open source projects etc.
I've just had a project accepted and want to upload the code, however i am confused as to how to do this. I'm not too familiar with cvs/subversion so am slightly confused as to what to do. Could someone give me an explanation as to how to get source code + javadoc on SourceForge ? Also, when i try to access the project website http://www.squirreldb.sourceforge.net/ i get an error regarding web content. What do they want for web content? I thought sourceforge had a standard web layout for projects which is managed by them? any help is appreciated as i'm finding the sourceforge docs confusing. |

There are tons of CVS/Subversion tutorials out there on the net and they'll teach you far more than any of us could in a forum post here.
As for your web content, there's no "www" in the addresses, it's just http://squirreldb.sourceforge.net - it seems you've nothing uploaded there yet though. That's where you upload your own site for your project. The standard sourceforge page is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/squirreldb

thank you for clearing the web content up, but as for the uploading code... do i need to use subversion to upload the code? surely SVN is just for version control and is dealt by sourceforge? can i not just SFTP the code into the subversion repository on sourceforge?

You can't SFTP things into the Subversion repository. SVN has its own tools for that. SVN is indeed for managing versions of your source code. If that's not what you want to do, then you don't have any need to use it.
