Web Development Software
I am starting my own web site and curious as to some advice about what type of software to use. The basics: T1 connection, probably a regular PC server for now. Plan on using Windows XP OS, Apache Web Server, MySQL Database, mod_perl and Perl CGI.
I am an experienced Perl programmer and don't see any real advantage of switching to PHP, especially if I have mod_perl for Win32 configured. Perl has everything I need. My main concern is that my development with Perl has basically been under Linux and haven't really used it with Windows. I have used many Packages from CPAN under Linux, but not sure if they all would work under Windows. Does anyone know this? How are the Perl DBI's for MySQL under Windows as well? Does my setup look to be not such a smart move, or will this work fine?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks....
