what's involved with logins and user info?

I am looking to be pointed in the right direction.

I need to setup a functional website that allows user registration, login (email varification), and possibly store user info, not necessary vital info (but should be secure).

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what languages and technologies need to be impletemented here. Thank you.

I want to use a MySQL db as well.

You can also use ASP (or any server side scripting language, I'd imagine) to write scripts.

I might be cursed for mentioning ASP though :P. Good luck!
