Where is the List of opened files in Dreamweaver 2004 MX?

Hello,

I use Dreamweaver 2004 MX for developing web pages and PHP code on the pages. It works pretty well most of the time. However on half a dozen occasions it's crashed on me. When it does it completely looses the list of files I had opened on separate tabs. This is a royal pain. It just happened to me today and I had about 20 files opened. They have been opened this way for weeks and I've gotten used to them in the order they were in. I will never be able to open them again in this order. Dreamweaver MUST keep that list of open files somewhere or it would not be able to open them every time I open Dreamweaver. Does anyone know where that list is kept? So, I can go to it to see what files I had opened and in what order? I've searched for ini files and text files for the file names I had opened and can't find them anywhere. I've looked in the Dreamweaver directory files, the registry, the Application user data files, and my project directories. Any help would be greatly appreciated here.

Thanks,
Paul

Hello again,

Surely someone else has run into this problem... You're working on a project and you have lot's of files open then something happens to make Dreamweaver close unexpectedly. When you re-open Dreamweaver all the open files are gone and you have to re-open them again. If you only had 10 files open you can open from the "most recent" list but, if you had more than that open like me you better have a good memory!

Can anyone tell me where Dreamweaver keeps it's list of open files? I would like to back it up regularly so that I can save this list.

Thanks,
Paul

I found it! It took some searching and timing, but here is what I found....

It's in the registry!

When I updated to V7.0.1 the updater saved my registry settings in a special BAK key and the files that were left open after the last close of Dreamweaver were stored at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004 Bak\Open Files

Every time I close Dreamweaver the last set of open files are stored at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Open Files Notice the subtle lack of "Bak" in the key.

So, I have the list at the time of my last update, and I can't figure out how to force this to happen myself, AND after each normal close of Dreamweaver. All I had to do is go to the second key, highlight it, and export it to save it to a file and POOF! there is my list of open files from my last session. Now, if the next session crashes, or more likely, Windows crashes, I have my last list of open files I can import into the registry key to re-instate the list. The only thing that MAY be missing are NEW files that may have been opened in the last session. And they would on the "Open Recent" files list. This list only goes to the last ten files but I rarely open more than ten new files in a session. AND, these files are ALSO stored in a registry key if I need them.

I hope this helps someone else as it's been a real bear for me the few times that Dreamwever has close abnormally for me.

Paul
