FYI, I (who started this topic) use Textpad for everything except .NET, which I use Visual Studio.NET. But by gollee, Textpad doesn't support Perl syntaxes!

Althought dreamweaver is nice, i prefer the coding power of homesite. Perhaps hard coding something is the long and hard way, but i like it. I really made the site, not some program.

I used DW in a web design class and at first i didn't like it at all cause it was basically doing stuff straight out of a text, no coding at all. but once we got into complex tables i was glad i didn't have to hardcode. overall DW is a good program to have around for when it's easier to do things by visual site like tables and places and aligning graphics, but i still like to hardcode most of my sites.

But tables are structural elements, not visual elements.

No mention of homesite? Great editor, bucket loads of features (I only know a few!). I use it all the time. Much preferred over ultraedit by me

Dreamweaver 4 and MX include the latest releases of Homesite as the Roundtrip HTML Editor anyway.

Samwise: I hate to say this, but that arachnophilia editor is a pain in the a$$. I cannot believe any program these days doesn't let you type in the folder path. If I want to open c:\perl\files\1.pl, I can't just type it in, but I have to click on c:, then perl, then files, then I find out that oops, no .pl file is listed. Then I abort, go to File > Open > Perl file to open this. I've had it with Java programs! Maybe platform indepence wasn't such a great idea after all.
